Our Story
Built slowly, on purpose.
Aurelia opened in 2015, in a building that used to be a printworks — you can still see the old loading bay doors in what's now the lobby bar. The idea was simple: a good hotel should feel less like a hotel and more like the best version of staying home.
That meant no grand marble lobby, no army of staff hovering, and no minibar prices that make you wince. Just thirty-two rooms, a kitchen that cares, and a rooftop that people actually use.
A decade on, most of the original team is still here — the same head chef, the same front-desk manager who somehow remembers every returning guest's name. We've resisted the urge to expand. Thirty-two rooms is enough to know every one of them well.
Milestones
2015
Aurelia opens in a converted Fitzrovia printworks, with thirty-two rooms and a rooftop nobody expected.
2018
The restaurant earns its first mention in Condé Nast Traveller — the seasonal menu hasn't changed its philosophy since.
2021
The spa opens — three rooms, deliberately small, built into what used to be the old plant room.
2026
Still thirty-two rooms. Still no plans to change that.
What We Believe
Nothing overdone
Restraint is harder than decoration — we'd rather leave something out than add it just to fill space.
Staff who stay
Most of our team has been here for years — that's how a hotel starts to feel like it remembers you.
No rush, anywhere
Breakfast doesn't stop at a set time. Checkout is flexible if we're not full. We'd rather things run slow and right.
